Common Questions
-
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. It is never a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment.

-

-

-
No. Functional testing is always optional and only discussed where relevant to your health history, symptoms, and nutritional approach. Many clients benefit from nutrition and lifestyle support without additional testing.
-
Where appropriate, nutritional therapy may work alongside medical care and other healthcare support. If you have a diagnosed condition or take prescribed medication, it is important to keep your healthcare provider informed of any significant dietary or supplement changes.
-
As part of the assessment process, I screen for symptoms and health concerns that may require medical evaluation. If any red flag symptoms are identified, I will discuss these findings with you and require that you seek assessment from an appropriate healthcare provider before nutritional therapy proceeds.
This approach helps ensure your safety and supports best practice within my professional scope. Where appropriate, nutritional therapy can continue alongside medical care once the necessary assessment or treatment has been completed.
-
Yes. I may be able to work with individuals taking GLP-1 medications, depending on their health circumstances and goals. Nutritional therapy can help support healthy eating habits, adequate nutrient intake, digestive comfort, and other lifestyle factors while using these medications.
If you are taking a GLP-1 medication, this will be discussed during the assessment process to ensure that any nutrition and lifestyle recommendations are appropriate and aligned with the care you are receiving from your primary healthcare team.
-
Yes. At present, I do not work with individuals who have a confirmed or suspected cancer diagnosis, an eating disorder, disordered eating, or epilepsy. These areas require additional specialist post-qualification training, which I have not yet completed.
I also do not work with individuals with kidney disease, as this condition requires specialist dietary management. Nutritional recommendations for kidney disease must take kidney function into account, and even seemingly minor dietary or lifestyle changes may not be appropriate. For this reason, individuals with kidney disease are best supported by a renal dietitian or other suitably qualified healthcare professional with specialist training in this area.
If your needs fall outside my current scope of practice, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, recommend seeking support from a suitably qualified healthcare professional. I may review and expand my areas of practice in the future as I undertake additional specialist training.
-
